Michael Douglas on Cancer Battle: 'My Doctors are Optimistic, I'm Optimistic'.'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' star Michael Douglas held a no-cameras, audio-only press conference in Manhattan Wednesday afternoon to talk about his new movie with director Oliver Stone, and the Oscar winner gave an update on his battle with stage four throat cancer.

"I'm doing fine; very proud of the picture," said Michael, looking good given his circumstances. "My doctors are optimistic, I'm optimistic, and obviously a combination of radiation every day and chemo limits a full day, but everybody did a fantastic job and life goes on. So it's just another chapter. I've had a pretty good run of it and this was a pretty bad year, so it's going to be topped off with a really good movie."

Earlier in the day, Michael's 'Wall Street' co-stars Josh Brolin and Susan Sarandon, along with Oliver Stone, shared their thoughts about their brave co-star's cancer battle.

"He has been graceful," says Susan. "I was very moved [seeing Michael on 'Late Show with David Letterman'] with the hug business; I thought that was so fragile a beat to be able to do. I was very moved by that."

Oliver calls his friend "very courageous," and says the situation is "sad," but "he's still out there" promoting the film.

"He's still in the midst of it, so you don't want to say anything conclusive, you know?" says Josh. "He has incredible character and great energy that he's always had that's pushing him through what he needs to go through. ... The reality is [that] I'm sure that there's a vulnerability there that he's never experienced, and I don't wish that on anybody, but he's doing great so far from what I know."

Shia LaBeouf, Frank Langella and Carey Mulligan also join Michael in 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,' in theaters September 24. In the movie, Gordon Gekko (Michael) is finally released from jail after doing time for insider trading. His daughter, played by Carey, is now engaged to Shia's character, Jake, an ambitious young Wall Street trader. Together Jake and Gekko make their mark on Wall Street and try to warn their contemporaries of the impending 2008 stock market crash.
